Kenya international trio Farouk Shikalo, Joash Onyango and Francis Kahata bagged personal wards on Wednesday in the Mapinduzi Cup Final between the perennial rivals Yanga and Simba.
Yanga won 4-3 on penalties after a draw in regulation time at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
Shikalo saved a penalty from Onyango while former Gor Mahia talisman Meddie Kagere also failed to convert for Simba leading to their defeat which has sparked an online spat between fans at both teams.
Kahata, former K’ogalo alia Gor Mahia FC midfielder and Shikalo previously with Bandari joined Simba and Yanga respectively in the 2019 season, the two players won Player of the Tournament and goalkeeper of the Tournament respectively while Onyango bagging Man of the Match and shillings 47000 token.
Simba was under the tutelage of assistance coach Matola Selemani after they parted ways with the Belgian Coach Sven Vandenbroeck on Jan 7, just a day after he led them to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
Simba had in the Semi-finals edged out Namungu to advance to the finals while Yanga beat Azam 2-0 in extra time to book a date with their arch rivals.
